Marcia the Bookworm

This photo of me is called "The Bookworm." It was taken in August of 1955 by my father in our house on Mildred Street in Grand Rapids, Michigan. You can see I was raised in an ultra-modern house, my father being an architect.

My Dad would announce, "Here's our bookworm," whenever this slide was projected on the screen. This slide can once again be seen by our family courtesy of the new toy I bought recently. It's a scanner that converts slides and negatives to digital images. I've been heartsick for a long time, knowing I had all the slides my Dad took when we were kids and how much money it would cost to get them all converted to photos. Now that I've got the software on the computer, it will be quite simple to bring all these wonderful images to the modern era. How excited I am! I can hardly wait to zap a couple images to my brother and sister so they can see what I've been up to down here in Missouri. They are up there in Wisconsin right now without a clue to the treasures I am about to unearth. What fun!

BTW, please let me know if you can figure out what book I'm reading!

UPDATE: Here is a link to the slides/negatives to digital scanner.

P.S. The link doesn't want to work, so once you get to Hammacher's site put this in the search window: The Slide And Negative To Digital Picture Converter
