Meet H & J

Meet H and J:

Henry and Jackson are my daughter's spectacular cats. Case in point: See how much fun they have with this toy.

This is my favorite photo of Jackson:

This is my favorite photo of Henry:

Or maybe this one is:

These guys have been buddies of Sarah's for several years now. They came to live with Sarah while she was still in college. So at least 8 or 9 years, I think. They're good buds. Loyal through and through. Right now, they are still adjusting to sharing Sarah with her new husband.

Henry LOVES Dan. They go on walks in the yard and Henry never strays too far from Dan.

So far Jackson is still skittish. I keep reminding Dan that when Jackson lived with us for a while it took several months until Jackson would warm up to us. Just give him some time. Eventually, he'll come down out of "The Stacks" and be friends.

I got to loving them quite completely when they lived with us. Still miss them. Hamilton misses Jackson A LOT. they used to play together, wrestling and running all over the house. Now Hammy tries to interest Miss Ellie is playing rough-and-tumble, but--you guessed it--she won't have anything to do with this kind of play!

that jackson is a good-looking cat. and i've got a soft spot for skittish animals. (think of Riley.)

Jackson is actually a very affectionate and loving cat, once he gets to trust and know you. And he really loved Dan when Dan used to visit Sarah at her apartment before they were married. Ran right up to Dan every time he came in the door, tail twitching in the air. We don't know what's made Jacksie-Bear skittish now, probably the move itself has been a bit traumatic.

Laurie,
I went back and read your stories about Wild Man Riley. I think you're right about Jackson being similar. Even though Henry and Jackson are litter-mates, which means pretty much similar babyhood, came to Sarah at the same time, etc., they have distinct personalities.

Henry acts like the King of the Roost most of the time. Very self-confident.

Jackson is afraid of lots of things. Skittish is the word, isn't it? But he is capable of loving you, as much as a cat is, which is much less than a dog's type of love, but he was climbing into my lap when he warmed up to me.

Cats are so much more independent--not needing of humans much some days. It takes Jackson a long time to warm up to a person; once he does, he’s your buddy for life. Which makes it so strange because he used to worship the ground Dan walks on but now even hisses at Dan! We keep telling him to be patient. And hoping we aren’t lying about this being just phase.

The cats and Sarah were a package deal for Dan. We hope the whole “package” gets settled in over there eventually. Maybe it just comes down to having to share their lady with Dan. That seems to be taking Jackson some time to get used to.
